The Family Feed Mill

The Nobleton Feed Mill owes its beginnings and longtime reputation for excellence to Alf Budweth Sr.....and its continued success to “the Budweth boys”, David and Alf Jr., who work together to keep the family business thriving and growing.

Alf Jr., graduated from the University of Guelph with an Associate Diploma in Agriculture in 1990. At that time he returned to the family business (Nobleton Feed Mill) while continuing his education on a part time basis. In 2003 he completed a BSc. Agr. Animal Science and brought that additional expertise into the business. Based on his growing reputation as an equine consultant, Alf is often called upon to be a guest speaker by the University of Guelph. He is also a regular guest lecturer for the Equine Science Certificate program – the first Canadian program of its kind to be offered online.

Beginning with his early involvement at the Nobleton Feed Mill, David Budweth has honed his organizational and business skills. In fact, David did not always plan on staying in the family business. After completing high school, he went to Windsor University to study Law Enforcement and planned on working in an investigative role in that field. After more than two years in the program, David was yearning for home and missing his work in the mill. He realized that policing was not what he wanted to do after all, so he returned to the Nobleton Feed Mill. Immersing himself once again in the environment he loved, David continued his studies by taking business courses through York University on a part-time basis. While his younger brother Alf is sometimes seen as the more public face of the business, David applies his diverse expertise to maintaining a strong backbone of well-run operations and good business practices.

Both David and Alf are volunteer firefighters in Nobleton. David is a Captain, with almost 17 years of service to the organization; while Alf, with 15 years of service, is an Acting Captain. When called upon, Alf also serves as an educational resource to the Tottenham Equestrians, a local club that organizes and runs horse shows for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Well recognized members of the community, both David and Alf are known for being helpful, easy to talk to….and very tall.

The Nobleton Feed Mill is well recognized in the community and also stands tall. Throughout its long and reputable history, Nobleton Feed Mill Ltd. has earned many awards and supported many community causes and organizations. With the recent launch of the Budson Farm and Feed Company, the Budweth brothers continue to build on the reputation their family has earned over the years for exceptional quality, service, and customer care.
